Get ready to take a stroll down memory lane and gaze into the future at the Light on the Hill dinner, an evening celebrating Bathurst's beloved Ben Chifley, who graced us with his presence in 1884, not 1885 mind you. It's a bit like throwing a birthday party a year early, but we'll take any excuse to commemorate Chifley. You'll have the chance to hear from our special guest, who will share their insights on what it means to shine your own Light on the Hill. This year, we're lucky to have Ed Husic, the Minister for Industry and Science, who has been serving in the Chifley electorate in Sydney's west since 2010. Here's hoping he brings some great ideas to the table.

Don't forget to mark Saturday, 21 September 2024, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on your calendar—a perfect time slot for a solid meal before the speeches kick off. Tickets are up for grabs at $85, or if you're a pensioner, you can grab a special deal for $70 because those with a few more candles on their cake definitely deserve a bit of a break. And don't worry about searching for cash at the door; you can easily grab your tickets online. The event will take place at the Panthers Leagues Club on the corner of Piper and William Street in Bathurst—a fitting venue for locals to come together, pay tribute to legends, and share a good laugh.
