Join us for a stroll down Bathurst's storied past with George Lamerton, a master bricklayer turned publican, who had the knack for turning bricks into something a bit more exciting than just walls. After teaming up with Mr. B Baldwin, George helped construct some of the biggest and best structures in town, including the now infamous Hotel Dudley. But before it was all about the Dudley, there was the Greater Western Family Hotel, which swung open its doors on 11 March 1885, just a hair after getting its license on 19 December 1884. George, being the savvy chap he was, took on the role of publican and thus began the legend of one of Bathurst's most iconic watering holes.
Come along and listen to tales of George's bricklaying escapades and the other buildings he put his uniquely skilled touch on. The iconic Hotel Dudley has its own story too, filled with character and charm. As a cherry on top, there will be refreshments at the end of the tour to help wash down all that history. Just a heads-up, it'll cost you $25 for adults and $20 for concessions—kids under 16 get to tag along for free. You'll want to make a booking though, as spots are essential for this jaunt through Bathurst's heritage.
