The Wynne Prize, dangling a shiny $50,000 carrot, is dished out by the trustees of the Art Gallery of New South Wales, and they're looking for the best landscape painting that captures the magic of Australian scenery or a stunning figure sculpture by one of our homegrown artists. This isn't just any art prize; it's Australia's oldest, kicking off way back in 1897 when Richard Wynne decided to share his wealth for the greater good—probably while pondering why paint and clay don't get along.

This artistic showdown showcases everything from mind-bending sculptures to paintings that make you feel like you're sitting under a gum tree in the blazing sun, contemplating life—or at least your next meal. It all blends together the zealous creativity of Aussie artists responding to our unique land, all with a sprinkle of contemporary flair and a nod to the environment.
